Next Week at Saint John at the end of the 9:00 Mass, we will be asked to process out to the Statue of "Our Lady of the Sign of the Cross" for May Crowning. In addition to the celebration of May Crowning this is the 70th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Statue here are Saint John. The Statue was dedicated on May 10th, 1955 during May Crowning. For those who do not know the history this comes from the annals of the Sisters of Notre Dame: "May 10th was chosen as the day for the annual May Crowning. This year was to be a special event since our beautiful outdoor statue of "Our Lady of the Sign of the Cross" was to be crowned and dedicated. This statue was erected in loving memory of Msgr. Anthony Goebel. A small statue which belonged to Father Goebel was sent to Italy where our large almost life sized statue, which now graces our yard, was carved out of beautiful, white Italian marble. Please follow us out to the statue immediately after the 9:00 Mass for May Crowning.
